Book Café Maru

While most of the people I know celebrate their most awaited semestral break and planning their short breaks, my sister and I are preparing for another post graduate class. Today is our first day of the 2nd trimester. First days are such a drag and to make it even more hard for us to attend our first day, it rained so hard today. There’s something about rain that makes me want to hide under the sheets and just do nothing. And so I did still go to school and attend classes. I’m quite excited though since one of my subjects is Research and Applied Statistics. LOL I seriously need help on this one. Anyway, we finished classes earlier than the usual time so we headed on outside-the-mall coffee shop hunting. I remember seeing a lot of photos in FB about Cafe’ Maru. We decided to give it a try on a cold rainy Saturday.

Book Café Maru is a small cozy and quaint Tea&Coffee shop located in front of Sto. Nino Village, Banilad owned by a Korean National. I was immediately greeted by the aroma of the coffee inside and the cozy feel of the place. It’s a perfect hideaway for catching up with friends or “me time” with a good book or a lappy. The cafe has all sorts of board games and some korean Books and magazines. Everything in there is really the epitome of cuteness. I so totally love every details of the cafe’. Every corner has something interesting that is definitely an eye candy. The interior is very well thought of. Kudos to whoever designed it. It’s like having coffee in Korea without having to go there.

This is their cozy platform where customers can sit on the floor just like these Koreans.

Since we were still full and just wanted to give in to our urge of eating something really sweet, we ordered this Caramel Nut Latte with a cute red stirrer. I liked it but didn’t feel like finishing the drink because it taste too sweet. For me and my sister, it was a so-so drink.

I’ve seen a lot of this Ice Cream Waffle in Facebook and Instagram. I couldn’t wait to finally try it myself… And well It tasted as good as it looks. I love the combination of the whole package. Vanilla and chocolate ice cream with the banana and the waffle is a perfect match made in heaven. I just don’t like the whip cream (sorry, I’m not a fan) in it but i love looking at it on the waffle. hehe…It adds more thrill and anticipation.

Here’s 2 of the pages of their menu. Although the cafe has a really nice ambiance, it is relatively pricey. Most of their drinks have more or less the same price with the coffee shops in the mall. Nevertheless, I will still go back to try some of their food and drinks.

My sister enjoying the Ice Cream Waffle.

Overall, Book Cafe’ Maru is a perfect hang out for those who would like study alone, read a book or spend time with friends/bfs/gfs who have a budget to spend for a coffee or some cold nice drinks. I will definitely be back soon and try some good stuff. :)

Little Things I’m Grateful For

Happiness is a warm brownie cup on a Sunday!

Warm Brownie Cup | La Marea, IT Park Cebu | October 8, 2012

There is probably something with ice cream that increases the production of endorphin. Take my 2 year old for example, she gets all psyched up seeing the Gelatissimo stand in the mall. Her energy is just so viral that we get excited too seeing her jump up and down. I don’t have a sweet tooth but every once in a while I indulge myself with all the goodness of sweets that it has to offer. It has some sort of a high effect on me especially when the hormones are messing up with my moods. While im on it (mood swings like depression for no reason at all. LOL) , I try to comfort myself by counting my blessings.

Little things I am grateful for…

Since I got married, life has suddenly taken a different direction. Priorities have changed and more big time responsibilities present itself straight in your face. All these changes of course includes self-control on spending too much on clothes or shoes. I am thankful that I am still able to pamper myself with shopping every now and then all because I have a very understanding husband.

My sister and I have moved out since we are both married already. The other one is still living with my parents. Though we don’t live in the same house we still get to hang out since our houses (my sister and I) are in one compound. And my parents’ house is just a 3 minute walk away from our place. Sisters are the real BFFs, they stick around no matter what.

I had a very stressful day today (like really intense). I felt sad plus hormones acting up on me again. And then the husband iMessage me: “Sagdi lang na hun. Ok ra na, naa bitaw ko. ;D” Just like that I felt better.

Little things like these are warm brownie cup. Totally makes you happy and all psyched up like a 2 year old. :)

Thank You.

Parfois Cebu

For the past few weeks I have been obsessing Parfois products. I have been either window shopping or doing some serious shopping  in SM City Cebu a thousand times but never really looked closely at Parfois’ products. I had an impression that they’re expensive and so I would just pass by and go straight to Mango instead. It just right across Mango and Terranova. So let me present my newest shopping find, Parfois!

Parfois ( par-fwa) is a Portuguese brand that started as a fashion accessory in 2004. PARFOIS holds today around 280 shops (source: Wikipedia). They opened their doors to Cebuanos last year. Too bad I didn’t bother to check them out.

The store really looks posh and quite intimidating but you’ll never know until you check it out. They have all sorts of stuff that women love like accessories that are to die for, bags, shoes, shades, scarves, etc. My fave among their selections are their accessories which range from an average of php300 – php600 which is comparable to SM Accessories and Forever21.

Bags at Parfois is such a great deal when it comes to price and quality. The price ranges from 1,400 up to 3,000. I was shocked when I saw the price tag.hehe…I scored myself  a Brown Shoulder bag at 1,400 only, a beige doll shoes for php899 and some accessories. I am one happy camper! :)

This is a must check out!
